”Yes, basic bells irritates us also. Bike is a bit too long in the sun? The plastic clamp brakes. Bike is a bit too long in the snow? The spring gets rusted and the bell doesn’t sound anymore. The neighbor is a bit too eager removing their bike that’s next to yours? The rubber band holding the bell snaps.
You look at the bell the wrong way? It disintegrates!
Yes we hear these stories all the time. So I recommend the same to everyone, don’t get the same bell. Get one that lasts. And I share my own experience. About 5 years ago, I changed all of the bells on the family’s bikes to Crane bells. They are still in use, and working as perfectly as the first day. Even the kids, that are growing at such a speed they almost need a new bigger bike every year, still have the same bell, that has been moved from bike to bike. There are scratches and signs of use of course, but the functionality is still there.
When it comes to basic bells, the saying definitely applies: buy cheap, buy twice… or trice.
From own experience, I can surely recommend the Crane E-Ne bell. It might actually be the last bell you buy.”
